The Nigerien Patriotic Movement ( French : Mouvement Patriotique Nigérien , abbreviation: MPN-Kiishin Kassa ) is a political party in Niger .

history

The Nigerien Patriotic Movement was founded by Ibrahim Yacouba , who was expelled from the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya) in August 2015 . The founding meeting of the party took place on November 8, 2015 in Niamey .

In the 2016 general election , the Nigerien Patriotic Movement won five out of 171 seats in the National Assembly . Ibrahim Yacouba ran for the party in the 2016 presidential election, finishing fifth out of fifteen candidates with 4.52% of the vote.

In the government formed after the elections of President Mahamadou Issoufou (PNDS-Tarayya), the Nigerien Patriotic Movement belonged to the ruling coalition. She provided the Foreign Minister with Ibrahim Yacouba and the Communication Minister with Sani Koubra . The party left the coalition in April 2018. Sani Koubra resigned from the MPN-Kiishin Kassa and became a party member of the PNDS-Tarayya in June 2018. MPN Kiishin Kassa MP Aïchatou Maïnassara announced in April 2019 that she wanted to support President Issoufou, contrary to the new party line.
