Dariush Eghbali (born February 4, 1951 in Tehran ) is an Iranian musician.

Life

Dariush Eghbali spent his first years in Karaj , 40 km west of Tehran. When he was nine years old he was on stage at his school. The actor Hassan Khayatbashi introduced him on Iranian television in 1971. He quickly became popular with the song Don't Tell Me You Love Me . His work consists of over 200 songs and 26 music albums. He also acted in two Iranian films.

Eghbali is a member of Amnesty International . He campaigns for the Iran Recovery Center and the Ayeneh Foundation and uses his popularity to promote a drug-free lifestyle via the Internet, in training events and conferences.

Awards

His contributions were recognized by the Self-Help and Recovery Exchange, which recognized him with the Ron Simmons & Rev, Ronald L. Wright Award for his work on behalf of disadvantaged minorities.
