Darko Šarić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Дарко Шарић ; * 1969 in Pljevlja , SR Montenegro , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian - Montenegrin suspected drug trafficker.

He was charged with drug smuggling (especially cocaine ) in April 2010 . He is said to have advertised 30 million euros for the murder of well-known politicians and police officers. According to the police, the list includes the Serbian President Boris Tadić , Justice Minister Snežana Malović , Justice State Secretary Slobodan Homen and the Special Prosecutor against Organized Crime, Miljko Radisavljević . The first plans for the alleged assassinations have been known since March 2010.

In October 2009, attempts to smuggle around 2.7 tons of cocaine from South America were foiled. The clan around Šarić acts from Montenegro. The police estimate the proceeds at five billion euros.

According to the State Secretary in the Serbian Ministry of Justice, Slobodan Homen, Darko Šarić earned one billion euros a year.

There were diplomatic upheavals between Serbia and Montenegro around the arrest of Darko Šarić. The Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović accused the Serbian authorities of disrupting the cooperation of the investigators and thereby warning Šarić. The Serbian government, however, suspects Montenegro of granting protection to the fugitive.

In July 2012, the Belgrade daily Press reported a further 10 million euros in bounty for the murders of 6 current or former state and government officials, which Šarić blames for the collapse of the drug system he brought up.

At the beginning of 2014, Šarić was located in South America by the Serbian secret service BIA and arrested in a joint operation by the Serbian and Montenegrin police after he was searched for by an international arrest warrant. He was taken to Montenegro on March 18, and finally to the Serbian capital, Belgrade , where he will be tried. Šarić's property was temporarily confiscated.
