The Darm family (also Tharm ) was a Bernese notable family who owned the citizenship rights of the city of Bern by 1505 at the latest , belonged to the Pfistern Society and died out shortly after 1600 in the man line.

history

The first member of the sex that was tangible in Bern, Niklaus Darm († 1545), was already a member of the Grand Council and was mayor of Büren an der Aare. Darm entered into alliances with the Bern notable families Gantner, Im Hag, Stürler and Willading . Sebastian Darm (I.) joined the small council in the second generation and even became Venner to Pfistern. By marrying the wealthy Elisabeth Stürler, Sebastian Darm (II.) Became Gutsbeitzer zu Gampelen . Elisabeth Stürler divorced Sebastian Darm in 1605 after he became impoverished and had left Bern.
