Darran Lindsay
Darran Lindsay (* 1971 in Dundrod ; † September 9, 2006 in Dublin ) was a British motorcycle racer who drove both street and circuit races.
life and career
Lindsay was born directly at the Dundrod circuit and began professional racing in 1990. Overall, he was able to experience the Irish championship title four times (in the classes 125 cm³, 250 cm³ and 600 cm³). He took part in the TT in 1999, 2000 and 2005 but was never really convincing here. Only in the junior racing series, the Manx Grand Prix, did he win victories in 1997 and 1998.
Lindsay, who had three children with his wife Kerry, was seen as a real talent on two-stroke engines - which at that time were increasingly being ousted from racing, also for reasons of environmental protection.
After a series of fatal accidents around the Ulster GP in 2000, Lindsay announced his retirement from racing because he had already lost too many friends in accidents. He and others started a discussion about road racing safety. However, he did not implement this. During training for the Killilane road race in Dublin, he crashed into the rear of a driver braking in front of him at over 190 km / h and died.
