Darty shop in Paris

Darty was originally a French trading company in the field of household appliances and ICT based in London . It was founded by Natan Darty and his brothers Marcel and Bernard in 1957. The company had over 11,000 employees and around 200 stores. It operated mainly in France , the Netherlands (under the name BCC) and in Belgium (under the name Vanden Borre) and was listed on the London Stock Exchange and Euronext Paris . The company's heiress was Jessica Sebaoun, who was married to Jean Sarkozy .

In autumn 2015, Darty agreed a merger with Fnac . The Steinhoff International then submitted a higher offer for Darty, which resulted in April in a bidding war between Steinhoff and Fnac. In June 2016, Fnac's higher offer was finally accepted and the merger was completed. The French Groupe Fnac was renamed Fnac Darty and Darty plc was dissolved. Darty now operates as a brand of Fnac Darty .
