The Santa Justa dam ( Portuguese Barragem de Santa Justa ) is located in the northern region of Portugal in the Bragança district . It dams the Santa Justa , a right (northern) tributary of the Douro, to a reservoir. The municipality of Lodões is about 4 km southwest of the dam. The Salgueiro dam is about 1.5 km northwest.

The project to build the dam started in 1999. The construction was completed in 2005. The dam is used for irrigation. It is owned by the Direcção Regional de Agricultura de Trás-os-Montes .

Barrier structure

The barrier structure is a dam with a height of 39.3 m above the foundation level . The top of the dam is at a height of 262 m above sea level . The length of the dam crest is 284 m and its width 8 m. The volume of the dam is 417,000 m³.

The dam has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 160 m³ / s can be discharged via the flood relief. The design flood is 167 m³ / s.

Reservoir

With the normal storage target of 259 m (maximum 260.6 m at high water), the reservoir extends over an area of ​​around 0.28 km² and holds 3.476 million m³ of water. The minimum congestion target is 245 m.
