Dan Nica (born July 2, 1960 in Panciu ) is a Romanian engineer and politician of the Partidul Social Democrat (PSD).

Life

Nica studied engineering at the Technical University of Iași . Since 1996 Nica has been a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies . From 2000 to 2004 and from 2012 to 2014 Nica was Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the government cabinets ( Ponta I and Ponta II ) of Victor Ponta . In the meantime he was Minister of the Interior for a short time in 2009 and until October 1, 2009 Deputy Prime Minister of Romania in the Boc I cabinet of Emil Boc . There he was a member of the Committee on Budgetary Control and the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy , as well as the Delegation for relations with the United States.

Nica has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014 . He is married and has one child.
