Cabinet Ponta II
The Ponta II cabinet was the second Romanian government formed by Victor Ponta .
history
The government replaced the Ponta I cabinet . It consisted of members of the PSD , the PNL as well as the PC and the PSD spin-off UNPR . The 30 social liberal cabinet members were officially named on December 19, 2012. On December 21, 2012, the Romanian Parliament re-elected Victor Ponta as Prime Minister and approved his new cabinet. Because the coalition partners wanted more ministerial posts, some new government offices were created. The cabinet's reign coincides with the state crisis in Romania in 2012 .
In February 2014 the governing coalition of Social Democrats (PSD) and Liberals (PNL) broke up. After weeks of dispute about reshuffing the cabinet, the Liberal party leadership decided on February 25, 2014 to withdraw its ministers. Since then, Prime Minister Ponta has had to continue to rule with a thin majority in parliament. The Social Democrats had already negotiated support with other groups. The Ponta III cabinet replaced the Ponta II cabinet on March 5, 2014.
