The minority government depends on the support of other parliamentary parties for future legislative initiatives.

At the beginning of February 2020, the government fell through a vote of no confidence by the PSD . Three weeks after the fall of the government, President Klaus Iohannis tasked Finance Minister Florin Cîțu with forming a new government. On March 14, 2020, the parliament expressed its confidence in the old and new government under Prime Minister Ludovic Orban in a fast-track process. Parliament approved the new cabinet with 286 votes. There were 23 votes against.
