The Technical University "Gheorghe Asachi" Iaşi (Romanian Universitatea Tehnică "Gheorghe Asachi" din Iaşi ) is located in the Romanian city ​​of Iaşi and was named after Gheorghe Asachi .

history

The roots of higher education in Iași go back to the Middle Ages. The first nuclei formed in the 16th century with the establishment of a Latin school in Cotnari , near Iași and the college of the Trei Ierarhi Church.

In 1813 the scholar Gheorghe Asachi founded the first technical training center in Romania. The first offer was a course in civil engineering , which was later developed and managed within the Michaelian Academy (1835) and the University of Alexandru Ioan Cuza Iași .

In 1937 the Polytechnic Institute "Gheorghe Asachi" was founded as an independent institution in which various technical fields were combined.

Among the other 56 universities in Romania, the university has the longest tradition in the field of technical courses and enjoys an excellent reputation.
