University of Petru Maior

The University of Petru Maior in Târgu Mureș ( Romania ) ( Romanian: Universitatea Petru Maior ) - until 1996 only University of Târgu Mureș - was named after the historian and philologist Petru Maior (approx. 1756-1821). It was founded in 1960 with a focus on teacher training and developed into a technical university in 1991 and a university in 1995. Around 79% of the students were enrolled in bachelor's programs in October 2012, 21% in master’s programs, and there were also 26 doctoral students.

Together with European partner universities, the university participated in European university development projects, often taking the lead. She conducted research in all three faculties, promoted the start-up training z. B. through summer schools and published several series of his own.

In 2018 the university was integrated into the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Natural Sciences and Technology Târgu Mureș .
