International locations
In September 2019, UMFST opened its first medical faculty in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld with the Universitätsmedizin Campus Hamburg (UMCH) . The Dean of the Medical Faculty is Simona Muresan. Since the 2019/20 winter semester, the 6-year study of human medicine has been offered on the Hamburg campus, leading to a qualification that is eligible for approval. Since the UMCH is a branch of a Romanian state university, admission is independent of German numerus clausus limits. Theoretical classes on the Hamburg campus are held in English. For the practical-clinical part from the 3rd year of study onwards, students go to one of the UMCH teaching hospitals in Germany. Bedside lessons are held in German. Optionally, the course can also be completed in Romania, in which case the study language at the bedside is English.
