Bergmannsheil und Kinderklinik Buer is a hospital in Gelsenkirchen . The provider is Bergmannsheil und Kinderklinik Buer gGmbH .

Since the merger of Bergmannsheil with the municipal children's clinics in 2002, the clinics have operated under the name Bergmannsheil und Kinderklinik Buer (BKB). Today the clinics are right next to each other. The hospital is an acute clinic . The adjoining children's and youth clinic guarantees first aid for children and adolescents after accidents.

History of Bergmannsheil

The Bergmannsheil in Gelsenkirchen-Buer was in 1929 particularly for the emergency care of miners from the mining professional association opened. In 1977 the Federal Knappschaft (today Knappschaft ) took over the clinic.

Serious burns have been cared for in Bergmannsheil Buer since 1984. During the 18th World Cup in 2006 , it was used as a reference hospital by FIFA for all athletes, supervisors and officials.

History of children's clinics

The clinics were originally located at Westerholter Straße 142. It was founded in the 1920s. It was bombed in World War II. Rebuilt, it started operations in 1958.

On December 6, 2007, the renovation of the children's and youth clinic in the new building on Adenauerallee was completed.

Setup and data

The clinics have a total of ten specialist departments with a total of 430 beds, 290 of which are planned beds, and 850 employees. Every year they provide around 120,000 nursing or boarding days for around 10,000 inpatients. The annual turnover is around 45 million euros.

Therapy methods

After the release of the film Elternschule 2018, the therapy methods of the children's clinic were controversial. The clinic also tries to silence critics, sometimes with cease-and-desist requests.
