The STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum is a television and film production location based in Erfurt . It was inaugurated in 2007 and includes studios as well as usable space for offices, workshops and fundi. The focus of the center on the production of children's media and the individual funding opportunities for start-ups make the STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum unique in Germany. background

The settlement of the complex took place in accordance with the state government 's wish to establish Thuringia as a children's media country . After the establishment of the children's television channel KiKA, there was an increased focus on courses with a media focus and the creation of a corresponding technical infrastructure.

The construction costs of the original KinderMedienZentrum amounted to 27 million euros, 90% of which was borne by the EU. The budget for the extension was 11.4 million euros, which was financed entirely from the economic stimulus package II .

The complex is located in the vicinity of the MDR Landesfunkhaus Thuringia and the KiKA . Studios A, B, C and the porch are located in the core zone of the building. These areas are surrounded by a two-storey periphery with storage, technology and mask rooms. The daylight studio (D) is a protruding structure that is used as a multifunctional area.

Two three-story office wings are interlocked with the adjacent park landscape. The integration of the new building into Reinhold Lingner's landscape concept was part of the architectural concept.

The target group are company founders, spin-offs , clients and producers as well as small and medium-sized companies in the media industry. With four studios ranging in size from 165 m² to 950 m², the STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum is the largest contiguous studio complex in Thuringia. At the center of the production is a full HD picture control room from which all studios can be controlled. The STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum is the first location of its size in which complete HD studio productions can be realized. The IOSONO GmbH , one of the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology based company to market the sound system of the same name developed by him, operates in STUDIO PARK KinderMedienZentrum production and presentation studios. The system is based on sound field or wave field synthesis .

The STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum is managed by the operating company for application and technology centers Thuringia mbH (BATT). The building and the equipment of the center were co-financed by granting investment grants from funds from the joint task improvement of the regional economic structure (GA) and the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF) .

The Schloss Einstein series for children and young people has been produced here since 2007 .

In 2011 the extension was opened and at the same time the new name for the center "STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum" (previously: Das KinderMedienZentrum) was announced.

In June 2020, the groundbreaking ceremony for a second extension was completed, which is to be opened by September 2021. MDR Media is to be the main tenant.
