Vom Bäumlein is a German animation - short film by Heinz Tischmeyer from 1940. The on the eponymous poem by Friedrich Rückert film based contains anti-Semitic passages.

action

A conifer is sad because it has no leaves, only sharp needles. He wants golden leaves and falls asleep. The next morning he wears golden leaves, shines and shines and is happy. The birds are also delightedly reflected in its leaves. A Jew comes through the forest, drives away the birds and plucks all the leaves from the tree, which is now bare.

The tree now wants glass leaves and wakes up the next morning with leaves made of glass. These will soon be broken by the wind. Even the next wish - green leaves - does not bring the tree any luck, because a hungry goat is now eating the whole tree. In the end, the tree wants its needles back and laughs happily when it wakes up again as a conifer. The surrounding trees and all the animals in the forest join in his laughter.

production

Heinz Tischmeyer (* 1913) owned his own animation film studio from 1936 and animated Vom Täumlein, the other sheet was willed on behalf of Schongerfilm. "Naturfilm Hubert Schonger" is named in the opening credits as the producer of the film . The seven-minute animated film is based on Friedrich Rückert's poem Vom Bäumlein, the other leaves intentionally . The figure of the Jew that can be seen in the film resembles an "infamous striker caricature of a Jew".

The film was released on DVD in 2011 as part of the History of German Animated Film series .
