content

This 22nd novel by the author is about the death of the deaf disabled Davide who collapsed from tablet poisoning. The mother of the 25-year-old, who was visited by the inspector and known from the neighborhood, shows hardly any feelings and claims that she helped him with his suicide . He wanted to leave his life because he had no friends and was therefore increasingly desperate.

Signorina Elettra finds out that there is literally nothing on the deceased in any files, not even a birth certificate . Brunetti does not believe in suicide , especially since Davide's aunt, his mother and their doctor are involved in contradictions. Paola takes a perjury to prevent the investigation from being closed. Against the resistance of Patta and the public prosecutor, the inspector continues to investigate and comes across the rich Serenissima family of Ludovico Lembo. Once again, an abyss of hypocrisy turns out to be the cause of the fall .
