history

Datacolor was founded in the United States in 1970. The company originally developed solutions for industrial paint applications. Activities were later expanded to include color communication and digital image processing solutions.

In 1980 Datacolor was taken over by the Swiss Eichhof Holding, the parent company of the Eichhof brewery . In addition to its original core business and the real estate business that has emerged from it over time, this has established a third pillar.

The colors division recently contributed almost 30 percent to the total sales of Eichhof Holding. At the end of August 2008, Eichhof Holding sold its beverage division to the Dutch Heineken Group. After the real estate division had also been sold to BVK Personalvorsorge of the Canton of Zurich in December 2008 , Datacolor, as the color division, represented the only remaining division of Eichhof Holding. As a result, Eichhof Holding was renamed Datacolor in January 2009.
