Data master

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A data master and the data mastery exercised by him are common terms, especially in Switzerland, in connection with the competence and responsibility under data protection law for a specific database .

The data owner is determined by law and may collect, update and manage data according to the data protection concept , regulated for example in Art. 8 Para. 1 of the Swiss Federal Law on Geoinformation . However, the Federal Act on Geoinformation uses the terms “responsibility” and “responsible body” instead of “data master” and “data master”.

In organized structures, the data owner is the person responsible for the project or the line manager.

In the case of data processing by order in accordance with § 62 BDSG , data control rests with the client, which the client must secure by agreeing on corresponding return and deletion obligations.
