Dave Hyatt

Dave Hyatt (born June 28, 1972 ) is an American software developer who has been with Apple since July 15, 2002 . There he is part of the development team responsible for the Apple Safari web browser and the WebKit framework. Hyatt was part of the original team that released the beta and final version 1.0. He is currently the Safari and WebKit Architect .

Before joining Apple, Hyatt worked at Netscape Communications from 1997 to 2002 . There he worked on the Mozilla web browser. During his time at Netscape Communications, he also created the browser Chimera (later Camino ) and developed Firefox (originally called Phoenix) with Blake Ross . The implementation of tabbed browsing for Chimera and Firefox sprang from his pen. (An initial implementation for Netscape / Mozilla on which Hyatt's work was based was programmed by HJ van Rantwijk, as part of the MultiZilla project at mozdev.org.)

Hyatt also created and wrote the initial specifications for the XBL and XUL markup languages .

Hyatt graduated from Rice University and was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign .

Hyatt developed, but no longer waits, Shadowland Six software in his spare time; a forum and discussion server for the Shadowrun community.

He is also an active member of the W3C CSS - Working Group .
