Dave Maguire (born September 8, 1927 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Maguire began his career in 1940 at St. Patrick's College , where he was active until 1945. He then moved to the Baltimore Clippers in the Eastern Hockey League for the 1946/47 season . He led their team onto the ice as team captain. This was followed in the 1948/49 season by an engagement with the Washington Lions with play in the American Hockey League , in the same season he was also on the ice for the St. Louis Players . Then Maguire decided to leave North America and joined the British club Wembley Lions .

For this he ran on the ice until 1953; then the Canadian with jersey number ten was from 1953 to 1955 as a player- coach at Zürcher SC , with whom he played in the top Swiss league - the National League A - active. It was also he who taught Elwin Friedrich the slap shot as the first Swiss . This was previously unknown in Switzerland. He let his active career end from 1956 to 1957 with the Brighton Tigers .

After his career as an active player, Maguire acted from 1964 to 1968 as head coach at Zürcher SC.
