Dave Pelzer (born December 29, 1960 in Daly City , San Francisco County , California ) is an American author and campaigner for children's rights .

Life

Pelzer has made combating child abuse under the motto "helping people to help themselves" as a life's work. Since retiring from the US Air Force , he has supported the work of various child protection organizations. In his books he describes his own experiences of abuse. The degree of fictionality of these descriptions is disputed.

Dave Pelzer is married with one son and lives in Southern California.
