Dave Raggett

Dave Raggett (born June 8, 1955 ) is a British computer scientist.

He grew up in England and received his PhD from the University of Oxford . He has been involved in the development of the World Wide Web since the early days . Since 1992 he has made numerous contributions to the development of HTML over the years . He is co-author of HTML 3 through HTML 4.01. He also wrote a small program called HTML Tidy , which checks and corrects the syntax of the HTML code for correctness, and HTML Slidy , which can be used for XHTML presentations. In April 2007 he took over the chairmanship of the W3C . Since August 2007 he has been visiting professor at the University of the West of England .
