Dave Watson (born November 20, 1961 in Liverpool ) is a former English football player. For the English national team , he played twelve international matches between 1984 and 1988.

life and career

Watson was born in Liverpool and played for Liverpool FC in his youth . He then moved to Norwich City in 1980 for £ 50,000 , where he made his first-team debut in a derby against Ipswich Town . He played a total of 256 games for Norwich, 212 of which were first division games. In 1985 he won the League Cup as team captain of the "Canaries" , which was then called the Milk Cup ; in the same year he rose with the club, however, also in the second-rate Second Division . Although succeeded in the 1985/86 season by winning the second division championship, the direct rise, but Watson moved directly to Everton for 1.23 million pounds . During his time at Norwich he had played the first six of his twelve international matches and made his debut on June 10, 1984 in a 2-0 win against Brazil . With his new club he won the English championship in 1987 and the FA Cup in 1995.

In March 1997, Watson briefly coached Everton FC after the resignation of Joe Royle . When Howard Kendall was finally signed in June 1997 , Watson returned to the field. He continued his career until 2001. After the end of his active playing career, he became the new sporting director for the Tranmere Rovers for the 2001/02 season . However, when he did not achieve the season goal - promotion to the second English division - he had to leave after only one year. He later became a talent scout at Birmingham City .

In 2002, Watson was elected to the Norwich City FC Hall of Fame .
