The World of David the Gnome is a cartoon - television series of the Spanish television station BRB Internacional from the year 1985th

Origin and German processing

The series is based on the children's books The Big Book of the Brownies ( Leven en werken van de kabouter , Dutch first edition 1976) and The Secret Book of the Brownies ( De oproep der Kabouters , Dutch first edition 1981) by the Dutch Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet and was published by the Canadian Studio Cinar (now Cookie Jar Entertainment) based on the style of the illustrations of the books produced under the title David el Gnomo . The main character here is David, the Kabauter (originally "David el Gnomo"). Building on the success of David el gnomo , a spin-off called La llamada de los gnomos was created. The protagonist of the spin-off is "El juez Klaus" (Judge Klaus). In German, these two Spanish original series were marketed as a single series with two seasons, with the judge Klaus David becoming the judge.

content

season 1

David is a 400 year old Kabauter (a kind of dwarf ); He is a doctor and leader of his tribe and experiences adventures with his wife Lisa and the fox Swift. David introduces the Kabauter in episode 1. They are up to 15 cm tall (exception: the snowmaker, which can grow up to 19 cm) and weigh 300 g (Kabauter women 250–275 g). David himself is the son of Tim of Uppsala.

The program focuses on the environment and nature and provides information about various animal species. The treatment methods David uses to help injured animals are also shown in great detail.

season 2

In season 2 the doctor David is replaced by David the judge and his assistant Danny.

The episodes focus on traveling to other countries as well as meeting other Kabauters, as well as the misdeeds of the trolls, the enemies of the Kabauters. At the end of this season you will learn why Judge David lives with his sister and is not married. His wife died trying to save animals from a driven hunt. There is a guest appearance by the other David from the first season.

Charisma

The series was first broadcast in German-speaking countries on RTL / RTLplus, at Li-La-Launebär in 1989. A total of 52 episodes were broadcast.

Others

The name "Kabauter" is often confused with the better known Klabautermann , but does not contain an "L". David also explains it in one episode: The Kabauter lives in the forest, while the Klabauter (man) is at home on the sea.

Icestorm Entertainment released the series in 2003 in the form of three DVDs. However, the quality was criticized and only nine episodes were published.
