David-Christian Eckardt (born January 21, 1967 in Eisfeld , GDR ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2006 to 2014 he was a member of the state parliament in Thuringia and in 2013/2014 he was parliamentary manager of the SPD state parliamentary group.

Life and work

David Eckardt has two children. After three years of training as a nurse at the medical school in Suhl , he worked at the Sonneberg Hospital from 1986 to 1989 . Then he was a paramedic at the DRK , district association Sonneberg, until 2001 . In 1991 he completed further training as a paramedic and from 1992 to 1994 he trained as an administrative clerk at the Thuringian Administration School in Weimar. From 1999 to 2001 he completed further training as a business economist at the Jena Education Center and, after graduating, worked until 2006 as the manager of a nursing home, and since 2005 as regional manager.

Eckardt moved in on June 26, 2006 for the deceased Eckhard Ohl as a successor in the Thuringian state parliament . David Eckardt was spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group for social affairs and care in the 5th electoral term of the Thuringian state parliament. He is also a member of the Sonneberg District Council and the Sonneberg City Council .

From November 2009 to December 2013 Eckardt was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament. On December 18, 2013 he was elected parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group.

In the state elections on September 14, 2014 , Eckardt did not achieve the direct mandate in the constituency of Sonneberg I with 13.1% of the votes , and entry via the state list failed at list position 18.
