David Allen

David Allen (born December 28, 1945 ) is an American author , consultant and inventor of the self-management method Getting Things Done .

He is the founder of the David Allen Company, which specializes in productivity methodology and executive coaching . The “Getting Things Done” method (GTD) is part of the company's offering. Allen was also a co-founder of Actioneer, Inc. , which specializes in the development of productivity software for the Palm Pilot .

Allen has written three books: Getting Things Done : The Art of Stress-Free Productivity , which describes his productivity method, and Ready for Anything: 52 Productivity Principles for Work and Life ( "This is how I get everything under control: Self-management in everyday life", both published by Piper ), a compilation of Allen's newspaper articles on the subject of productivity. In December 2008, Making It All Work was published: Winning at the Game of Work and Business of Life (“I can do it! Self-management for everyday professional and private life”), in which he ties in with his first book. In 2015 he brought out a revised new edition of his first book "Getting Things Done".

He lived in Ojai , California with his wife Kathryn . In May 2014 he moved to Amsterdam , the Netherlands with his wife .
