David Berge (born March 21, 1977 in Berlin , Germany ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who was active in the DEL for the Berlin Capitals during his career .

Career

Berge began his career in the junior team of BSC Preussen, where he was active for the junior team in the junior Bundesliga from the 1994/95 season and became German junior champion in 1995/96 and 1996/97. After another season with the juniors, he was called up to the professional team several times during the 1996/97 season by the then Capitals trainer Peter Ustorf . He then made his first seven games in the German Ice Hockey League and also played two games in the European Hockey League .

In the EHL, he and his team retired after finishing third in the group stage. In the following three years Berge was the second goalkeeper of the Berlin Capitals and was in the goal of the Berlin 26 times. Berge played once for the German national ice hockey team. After the 1999/00 season , he ended his active ice hockey career at the age of 23 in order to focus more intensively on his parallel studies in physics. Berge is now Dr. of physics.
