David Gray (journalist)

David Gray (born December 31, 1927 in Kingswinford , West Midlands , † September 6, 1983 in London ) was a British sports journalist and correspondent.

biography

After graduating from the University of Birmingham , David Gray worked for Wolverhampton Express and Star , the Northern Daily Telegraph and the News Chronicle . Gray was a journalist and correspondent for the British daily The Guardian from 1956 to 1976 . He advocated the abolition of amateur tennis and the introduction of the open era. David Gray was also involved in re-organizing the Davis Cup . After serving at the Guardian , he was ITF Diplomatic General Secretary from 1976 until his death in 1983 . In 1985 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
