David Hempstead

David Hempstead (born October 2, 1909 in Salt Lake City , Utah , USA; † January 9, 1983 in Los Angeles , California , USA) was an American film producer and screenwriter.

Life

David Hempstead was the son of an assistant prosecutor in Salt Lake City. After high school, he graduated from the University of Michigan. Even here he got in touch with show business by writing musicals for three years. After writing a script, Hempstead got into film. First he worked as a producer at RKO , then for 20th Century Fox . First he was assistant director Nunnally Johnson , then he joined Darryl F. Zanuck's production staff . Several films he worked on have been nominated for Oscars and Golden Globes. He himself was nominated in 1941 for Miss Kitty ( Kitty Foyle: The Natural History of a Woman).

David Hempstead was married to Eleanor Avery and had two children.
