David Hughes (astronomer)

David Wolstenholme Hughes (born November 7, 1941 ) is a British astronomer and space physicist. He worked as a professor of astronomy at the University of Sheffield, England .

In his approximately 200 specialist articles he dealt with topics about asteroids (minor planets), comets , meteors and meteorites . He also works for British and Swedish space agencies and ESA .

In 1990 the asteroid (4205) David Hughes was named after him.

Most recently he gave in 2014 together with Heather Couper , Robert Dinwiddie et al. published a book on planetology , published in 2015 under the title The Planets. A journey through our solar system. appeared in German translation.
