David J. Asher (* 1966 in Edinburgh ) is a British astronomer .

Asher works at the Armagh Observatory in Northern Ireland , where he conducts meteor research with Robert McNaught . In 1994 and 1995 he discovered several asteroids .

The asteroid (6564) Asher is named after him.
