David J. Hudson

David J. Hudson (born December 16, 1943 - May 21, 2011 ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Hudson began his career in 1978 with the short film Xenogenesis , James Cameron's film debut (there was a second collaboration with Terminator in 1984 ). Hudson has worked on three films in the Star Trek franchise, from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan to Star Trek IV: Back to the Present . For the latter film he was nominated for the first time in 1987 for the Oscar in the category Best Sound . He later worked on a number of Disney films , including Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin . For both films he received another Oscar nomination, but never won the award.

For his work in television he was nominated for five Primetime Emmys between 1982 and 1987 , and in 1985 he received the award for the miniseries Space - A man reaches for the stars . Hudson retired from the film business in 1998, he died in 2011.
