David Kittinger
David "Dave" Kittinger is an American electrical engineer and computer chess - programmers .
Life
Dave Kittinger from Anchorage , Alaska , moved to Van Nuys , California , a district of Los Angeles , around 1980 . As early as 1979 he took part in the 10th North American Computer Chess Championship with his first chess program MyChess . It took fourth place out of twelve participants. The following year it played in the 3rd World Computer Chess Championship. At that time he started working for the Hong Kong- based British chess computer manufacturer Novag Industries Ltd. to work and developed several chess programs, such as Super Expert and Super Forte , and later WChess , which was the best of the eight participating computer chess programs at the 5th Harvard Chess Cup in 1994 .
The Super Constellation , which appeared in the summer of 1984, was particularly well-known and popular for its particularly humane style of play. The reason for this was seen as the pre-scan heuristic (PSH) implemented by Kittinger, interpreted half-jokingly as “ P asst S icher H albweg”. Fans affectionately called the device (similar to the Lockheed Super Constellation aircraft ) their "Super Connie".
