David Larose (2017)

David Larose (born July 4, 1985 in Bondy ) is a former French judoka . He was third in the 2013 European Championship and second in the 2014 European Championship.

Athletic career

The 1.67 m tall David Larose fought in super light weight until 2007 and then switched to half light weight. In 2004 he was fifth in the U20 European Championships and won the title at the Junior World Championships. In 2005 he finished seventh at the World Championships in Cairo .

After switching to half-light weight, it took a few years for Larose to catch up with the world class again. In 2009 he reached third place at the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro , and in early 2010 he was third at the Grand Slam in Paris . At the 2010 World Championships he was eliminated after his opening defeat against the Pole Paweł Zagrodnik . In 2011 he repeated his third place in the Paris Grand Slam. At the European Championships in 2011 he lost his opening match against Tarlan Karimov from Azerbaijan. It was not until the 2011 World Championships that he reached a place in the top eight again when he finished seventh, as in 2005.

In early 2012, Larose won the Grand Slam final in Paris against the South Korean Cho Jun-ho . At the European Championships in 2012 in Chelyabinsk, he was defeated in the semifinals to Tomasz Kowalski from Poland and then lost the battle for bronze against Georgian Lascha Schawdatuaschwili . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Larose won his first two fights and then lost to Lascha Schawdatuaschwili in the round of 16. In 2013 Larose won the Grand Slam final in Paris against the Mongols Dawaadordschiin Tömörchüleg . At the European Championships in Budapest he lost in the semifinals against the Russian Kamal Chan-Magomedow , in the battle for bronze Larose defeated the Hungarian Bence Zámbori . Four months later he lost to the World Championships in his opening match Paweł Zagrodnik.

In 2014 the European Championships took place in Montpellier. After Larose had defeated the Russian Mikhail Puljajew in the semifinals , there was an all-French final, which Loïc Korval won. In 2015, Larose competed in the European Championships held as part of the European Games in Baku . In the individual competition he was defeated in the second round to the Ukrainian Heorhij Santaraja , in the team classification he was only used in the quarterfinals. At the 2015 World Championships Larose was eliminated in the second round against the Russian Mikhail Puljajew. In 2017 Larose ended his international career.
