David Och

David Och (born March 8, 1980 in Bern ) is a Swiss author and kidnapping victim. His book about her kidnapping in Pakistan by the Taliban , published together with Daniela Widmer , reached number 1 on Switzerland's bestseller list.

Career

Och completed an apprenticeship in the social sector. From 2005 he attended the Ittigen Police School and from 2006 worked as a canton police officer.

In the summer of 2011 he and his girlfriend at the time, Daniela Widmer, traveled to India in a VW LT . On their way back through Pakistan, both were kidnapped on July 1, 2011 in the city of Loralai . They were held hostage for eight and a half months before escaping in March 2012. After returning to Switzerland, Och resigned from the police force and has since returned to working as a carer for disabled people.

Based on Widmer's diary entries, Widmer and Och published the experience report And Tomorrow You Will Be Dead: 259 days as hostages of the Taliban . In connection with their abduction, release and book publication, Och and Widmer were confronted with massive criticism.

After fleeing and returning to Switzerland, David Och and Daniela Widmer separated.
