David P. Robbins Prize (MAA)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The David P. Robbins Prize is a mathematics award from the Mathematical Association of America . It is awarded for an outstanding work in algebra , combinatorics or discrete mathematics with an emphasis on the novelty of research ("novel research"). In addition to the quality of the research, clarity in expression and accessibility are also included in the assessment for math students.

The award is endowed with $ 5,000 and has been awarded every three years since 2008.

It is named after David P. Robbins , a mathematician at the Institute for Defense Analyzes , whose work is largely classified as secret and who died in 2003.

A prize of the same name is awarded by the American Mathematical Society, see David P. Robbins Prize (AMS)
