David Robert (born April 12, 1969 in Luxeuil-les-Bains ) is a former French football player .

Career

As a youth player, Robert belonged to the juniors of FC Sochaux , from where he was sent to the INF Vichy training center in 1985. At Sochaux, those in charge considered the player to be unsuitable for the first division team three years later, so they handed him over to the second division US Valenciennes-Anzin . At Valenciennes, however, Robert could not assert himself either, did not get more than three missions in the season 1988/89 and returned to Sochaux at the end.

In Sochaux he made his first division debut during the 1989/90 season, but apart from that he ran exclusively for the reserve eleven. After another year without use, he let this follow a season with 23 disputed games, as coach Silvester Takač still bet on the player. Robert fought for a regular place, which, however, was not permanent. In view of this, he preferred to move to league rivals Le Havre AC in 1994 , where he was completely ousted from the first selection after some time as a substitute. This prompted him in 1996 to end his career at the age of 27 after 95 first division games with four goals and three second division games without scoring. Robert returned to the Sochaux area and played for an amateur club before opening a pizzeria.
