Ryō Hashimoto ( Japanese 橋本 僚 , Hashimoto Ryō ; born October 23, 1992 in Sapporo , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ōji Eagles from the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2011 .

Career

Hashimoto began his career as a hockey player at the Hokkai High School, for whose ice hockey team he was active in the 2009/10 season. Since 2011 the defender has played for the Ōji Eagles from Tomakomai in the Asia League Ice Hockey . In 2012 he was able to win this multinational league with the Eagles, in which teams from China, Japan and South Korea participate.

International

For Japan Hashimoto took part in the U18 Junior World Championship 2010 and the U20 Junior World Championship 2012 , in which the Japanese had to accept relegation to Division II as bottom of the table.

For the men's national team he made his debut in November 2012 in Nikko in the first round of the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi 2014. The Japanese could not use the home advantage and were eliminated by a 1: 2 against Great Britain . Later on, Hashimoto was also appointed to the national squad for the Division I World Championships in 2013 and 2014 , 2017 and 2018 , when he was also named the best defender of the tournament as the top scorer and second best scorer after the Lithuanian Arnoldas Bosas . He also took part in the qualifying tournaments for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. At the Winter Asian Games 2017 he finished third with the Japanese behind Kazakhstan and South Korea .
