David Rosenmann-Taub

David Rosenmann-Taub (born May 3, 1927 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean poet and pianist.

David Rosenmann-Taub graduated from the University of Chile in 1948. In the same year he won the "Sindicato de Escritores" prize for his first volume of poetry, Cortejo y Epinicio . In the following three decades David Rosenmann-Taub published more than 10 volumes of poetry, including a. Los Surcos Inundados , La Enredadera del Júbilo , Los Despojos del Sol and El Cielo en la Fuente . For Los Surcos Inundados he received the Premio Municipal de Poesía , the Chilean equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize . His poetry has been appreciated by authors as diverse as Witold Gombrowicz , Victoria Ocampo and Francis de Miomandre .

In 1976 he began to travel with readings and music and visited Latin America, Europe and the USA, where he settled in 1985. His more recent works continue to be published in Chile. Armando Uribe Arce , the youngest winner of the Chilean National Prize, called David Rosenmann-Taub “the most important living lyric poet in Spanish”.
