David Ruffin is an album by David Ruffin .

After his planned album David was not released by Motown because David Ruffin repeatedly angered his record company through indiscipline (drugs, non-compliance with deadlines), David Ruffin's third solo album was released in 1973, over three years after his predecessor. This time, in contrast to its predecessors, the album was only produced by one person: Bobby Miller , who also composed most of the songs.

The result is nevertheless a varied album, at its heart, the Gamble & Huff -Komposition I Miss You, Part I is. The inclusion of this title is likely to be one of the artistic highlights of Ruffin's career. The rest of the album ranges from ballads ( Common Man or Isaac Hayes - Cover (If Loving You Is Wrong) I Do not Want to Be Right ), early-1970s radio ( Blood Donors Needed (Give All You Can) ) and a slight " easy listening of the 1960s" tendency ( There Will Always Be Another Song To Sing ). It is also worth mentioning that David Ruffin's A Day In The Life Of A Working Man contains one of Ruffin's rare original compositions (here in collaboration with Bobby Miller).
