David Michael Smith (born May 15, 1985 in Panorama City ) is an American volleyball player .

Career

At the beginning of his career, Smith played volleyball and soccer at Saugus High School . From 2004 to 2007 he was on the team at the University of California, Irvine . With the US juniors, the middle blocker was 2004 runner-up at NORCECA . In 2007 he won the bronze medal at the Universiade with the USA . He then played for a season in the Northern Irish team at the University of Ulster before moving to the German Bundesliga club TV Rottenburg in 2008 . In 2009 he made his debut in the senior national team , with which he competed in the world league, among other things . In the same year he went to Puerto Rico to Caribes de San Sebastián . In January 2010 he left the club again and moved to the Spanish first division club Unicaja Almería , with whom he won the Spanish Cup in March and a little later became runner-up. In 2011, Almería finished second with the American in both competitions. For the new season, Tours Volley-Ball signed the middle blocker. In his first season in France, Smith won the national championship. In 2012 he was in the US squad for the Summer Olympics in London .
