history

Pötzling is one of the oldest settlements in the area and was probably founded in the 7th or 8th century. This is indicated by the place name, which consists of a combination of the first name of the founder (a certain Bozo) and the ending -ing . A local lower nobility was first mentioned in 1298. This migrated in the 14th century to the Upper Franconian-Upper Palatinate area after he had entered into family relationships with the aristocratic family von Zirkendorf . The old Pötzlinger coat of arms represented a duck and on the death shield of Franz Volkamer († 1401) this can still be seen in Nuremberg's Lorenzkirche .

Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Pötzling became part of the independent rural community of Gersdorf with the second municipal edict, which also included the village of Gersberg and the hamlet of Reuth . In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , Pötzling was incorporated into the municipality of Leinburg on May 1, 1978 together with the entire municipality of Gersdorf. In 1987 Pötzling had 43 residents.

traffic

The connection to the public road network is made by a municipal road that begins at State Road 2404 in Gersdorf and continues via Pühlhof to Unterhaidelbach, where it joins State Road 2240 .
