Gersberg is one of 17 districts in the community of Leinburg in Middle Franconia .

The Nonnenberg

The village lies between Gersdorf and Sendelbach at the north-western foot of the Nonnenberg , in the middle of forests and meadows. The place is located about four and a half kilometers northeast of the center of Leinburg and lies at an altitude of 395  m above sea level. NHN .

A hiking destination close to the village is the 579 meter high Nonnenberg, on which a castle was located in the Middle Ages. However, there are no written records of this. The name Gersberg is derived from the name Gerung , which was probably the founder of the place. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1072. This happened as part of three trips that Bishop Gundekar II of Eichstätt had undertaken from 1057 to 1075 in the area and during which he had consecrated several sacred buildings, including in Gersberg.

By the early 19th century in the Kingdom of Bavaria carried out administrative reforms Gersberg was the second Gemeindeedikt become part of independent rural community Gersdorf, which also includes the village Pötzling and the hamlet Reuth belonged.
