Sendelbach is one of six officially named districts of the Engelthal community in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village is located about two and a half kilometers northwest of the center of Engelthal and is at an altitude of 353  m above sea level. NHN .

history

The first written mention of Sendelbach took place on February 14, 903. On this day, King Ludwig IV made out a document (probably under the direction of his guardians, as the king was only nine years old at the time), with which he transferred the village of Teorinhova to the Regensburg monastery of Sankt Emmeram . This document explains, among other things, that Teorinhova forms part of the Ottensoos manor complex and is located near the village of Sentilapah .

The name of Sendelbach indicates its location on a stream that has sandy banks. This body of water is still called Sandbach today and arises on the north-western outskirts of Sendelbach from the union of the two streams of Hinterlohgraben and Hopfengraben .

Together with Engelthal, Sendelbach passed into the possession of the imperial city of Nuremberg as a result of the Landshut War of Succession and became part of the Engelthal nursing office established in 1565 .

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Sendelbach became an independent rural community with the second municipal edict, which also included the Krönhof wasteland about one kilometer to the east . In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the municipality of Sendelbach was incorporated into the municipality of Engelthal on July 1, 1972. In 1987 Sendelbach had 91 inhabitants.

traffic

The connection to the public road network is mainly made by the state road St 2404 , which comes from the south-west of Gersberg and runs through the town and continues in a north-easterly direction to Henfenfeld . In the center of the village, a community road branches off from this street, which leads eastwards past Krönhof to the district street LAU 5 .

Architectural monuments

Former stable house

There are three architectural monuments in Sendelbach, including a former farm house from the middle of the 18th century.

Hutanger

During the pasture farming in the Hersbrucker Alb , the municipality of Sendelbach owned a total of six hutanger . The local names of these pasture corpses were "Krönhofer" (near the desert Krönhof), "Säuanger" (towards Engelthal), "Birge" (towards Henfenfeld), "Veller" (between Engelthal and Henfenfeld), "Eile" (towards Engelthal, between Sendelbach and Peuerling ), and "Schafkoppe" (a continuation of Angers Eile , between Peuerling and Krönhof). After the abandonment of the pasture industry at the beginning of the 1960s, these hutangers gradually overgrown. It was only in the last few years that the de-bushing carried out as part of a project has partially restored the original condition of these fields.
