The Engelthal nursing office was one of the areas that at times comprised more than a dozen nursing offices with which the imperial city of Nuremberg had organized the administration of its territorial property.

history

The Engelthal nursing office was established after the last two nuns of the Engelthal Dominican convent handed it over to the city council of Nuremberg together with the 327 farms and estates belonging to it. The property of the nursing office was administered by a nurse residing in Engelthal , for whom the imperial city restored a monastery building for the Engelthal nursing palace , which had been destroyed in the Second Margrave War, from 1567 . The nurse was also responsible for the application of the lower jurisdiction , whereas the higher jurisdiction was exercised by the nursing office of Hersbruck , also from Nuremberg . The Engelthal care office ended in 1806 when the imperial city of Nuremberg was robbed of its independence with the Rhine Confederation Act and was forcibly taken over by the Kingdom of Bavaria .
