Gerhard Taddey

Gerhard Taddey (born November 16, 1937 in Gelsenkirchen ; † November 13, 2013 in Ludwigsburg ) was a German archivist and historian . From 1993 to 2002 he was head of the Ludwigsburg State Archives .


Gerhard Taddey studied history and English in Göttingen and Freiburg im Breisgau. After receiving his doctorate in 1964 with a work with Hermann Heimpel on the history of Heiningen Monastery near Goslar and training as a scientific archivist at the Marburg Archive School (1965–1967), he was consecutively at the Stuttgart State Archive (1967–1971), at the Hohenlohe Central Archive in Neuenstein (1971–1986) and in the Baden-Württemberg State Archives Directorate (1986–1993). In 2000 he completed his habilitation at the University of Tübingen. In 1993 he was entrusted with the management of the Ludwigsburg State Archives. In 2002 he retired.

From 1995 to 2005 he was chairman of the commission for historical regional studies in Baden-Württemberg and editor and co-author of the lexicon of German history as well as numerous articles on the history of the Württemberg region .
