Scheerau (also spelled Scherau , in local parlance usually with the article die Scherau ) is one of 17 officially named districts of the community of Leinburg in Middle Franconia .

geography

The hamlet is located about one and a half kilometers west of the center of Leinburg and south of that of Diepersdorf . The place is surrounded by a large number of fish ponds and is at an altitude of 370  m above sea level. NHN .

history

Today's Scheerau was called Kitzenau until the 18th century , as can also be seen on historical maps. The Kitzengasse in neighboring Diepersdorf is still reminiscent of the earlier name . Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Scheerau became part of the independent rural community of Diepersdorf with the second municipal edict. In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s, Scheerau was incorporated into the municipality of Leinburg on May 1, 1978 together with the entire municipality of Diepersdorf. In 1993 the Sche (e) rau had 21 inhabitants.

traffic

The connection to the public road network takes place via a cul-de-sac that joins a communal road about 200 meters west of the town. This continues from Diepersdorf from the north to Leinburg. The locality is not served by public transport .

Architectural monuments

Former manor house

In Scheerau there is a former mansion, which is designed as a two-story square building with a hipped roof. It should have been completed in 1767, but a Zeidel Muttergut can be traced back to the 16th century at this point.

Clubs and events

Despite its rather small size, the Scherau serves as the namesake for various events in its immediate vicinity. The sports facilities of both SpVgg Diepersdorf and TV Leinburg are located within a radius of 500 meters, and their location is often - incorrectly - referred to as “in the Scherau”. The Diepersdorf fishing association fishes in the Scherau ponds and invites you to the annual pond festival, while an agricultural property in the actual Scherau has developed into a farm shop with event options.
