David Collin Starbrook (born August 9, 1945 in Croydon ) is a former British judoka who won two Olympic medals.

Starbrook only began judo at the age of 19, and from 1968 he took part in international tournaments. He fought in the middleweight division until 1971 and won bronze in this weight class at the Judo World Championships in 1971 .

In 1972 he rose to the light heavyweight division. At the 1972 Olympic Games he defeated the Georgian Schota Tschotschischwili, who was playing for the Soviet Union, in his third fight, and in the final of his pool, the US judoka Jimmy Wooley . The winner of the other pool was the German Paul Barth , for the semi-finals the Brazilian Chiaki Ishii and Schota Tschotschischwili came as winners of the two rounds of hope. Starbrook defeated Ishii in the semifinals, but lost the final against Chochishvili by a referee decision and received the silver medal.

Starbrook also reached the final at the European Championships in 1973, where he was defeated by the French Jean-Luc Rougé . At the Judo World Championships in 1973 , he secured a bronze medal. He also won bronze at the European Championships in 1974 and 1975. At the Judo World Championships in 1975 , he finished fifth. In the semifinals of the 1976 Olympic Games, Starbrook lost to the Georgian Ramas Charschiladze , who was fighting for the Soviet Union, and he won the battle for bronze against the South Korean Cho Jae-ki .
