Ramas Khachiladze

Ramas Khachiladze (born January 16, 1951 in Natsargora , Inner Kartlien , Georgian SSR ; † September 13, 2017 in Chaschuri ) was a Soviet judoka who competed in the light heavyweight division in the 1970s. He won an Olympic silver medal.

The 1.82 m tall athlete from VS Tbilisi was in 1971 winner of the silver medal in the middleweight division at the European Junior Championships. From 1974 he started in the light heavyweight division. In 1975 he won the European team championships with the Soviet team. At the Judo World Championships in Vienna in 1975 he won his first four fights, but then lost in the semifinals against the Japanese Michinori Ishibashi . In the battle for bronze, Charschiladze defeated the British Peter Donnelly . In 1976, the Soviet team took second place at the European team championships. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal he won four fights, the Japanese Kazuhiro Ninomiya won the final . In the next few years, Khachiladze won several international tournaments, his only success at an international championship was the bronze medal with the Soviet team at the 1980 European team championships.

In 1971 and 1973, Khachiladze was the Soviet middleweight champion in sambo . In judo, he won the Soviet light heavyweight championship from 1974 to 1976 and 1979 and 1980.
